Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a natural state of altered awareness where the imagination is active rather than the intellectual critical part of the mind. Contrary to popular belief, it does not in any way involve being, or becoming unconscious, or asleep.

Hypnosis cannot be forced upon people, it is a state that people allow themselves to enter and come out of. You cannot be forced to enter hypnosis or become stuck in it either. A person who wishes to come out of hypnosis simply does so and opens their eyes.

Hypnotic states occur in everyday life in the form of day-dreaming, vivid remembering, anticipating the future, fantasising, deep concentration, etc.

During the session a hypnotherapist will talk a client into deep physical and mental relaxation. The hypnotherapist will then work with you to explore your problem and suggest new, more sensible attitudes to reality that will help you to move on. It is not possible for a hypnotist to make you do something that you don't want to do. You will never do something in hypnosis that you would not do in your normal state.
